PROFILE: Camp Fire USA Heartland Council, a United Way agency, began in 1913 as the first regional Camp Fire council in the United States, Camp Fire USA challenges parents and youth to build character, adopt strong values, develop positive life skills and exercise responsibility to family and community. Council services include a wide variety of outdoor and group education programs: Camp Fire clubs, residential and day camps, outdoor education, training in volunteerism and community service, inner city after-school programs, and physical fitness/life skills education for children with special needs.
