We are a community that believes in the Grace of God. We are young, old and everything in between. We come from various economic backgrounds. We are straight, gay, partnered and single. We believe that Peace and Justice is for all of God's Children no matter race, religion, ethnic background, sexual orientation. He blessed us all with the teachings of God's only son Jesus Christ. We strive to help those that are in need of help. We understand that not everything is black and white and we open our arms up to those that feel like they have no where else to turn. We are a close community that might be small in numbers but have big hearts. We know that it is hard for some to find salvation in God's word and we do not judge on that, but instead we will help in anyway we can. We are a learning congregation. We learn on a daily level what God's path is for us and those around us. We accept the faults of our own and embrace the strengths that could come out of those faults. We believe that everyone is generally a good person, will accept them no matter the way they are. Just like God has accepted us as all his Children. We are an open Church which welcomes you to the table of Christ just as God intended.

We are a community of diverse beliefs united by our Unitarian Universalist faith and our common desire to make this world a better place. With historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism includes atheists, agnostics and theists; humanists, Christians and Buddhists, and followers of the earth-centered traditions. We keep an open mind to the religious questions people have struggled with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason should be the final authorities in religion, and that in the end religious authority lies not in one book or one person or institution, but in ourselves. Office Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekdays. Building Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Sunday Services: Early service is from 8:45 to 9:45; the late service is from 11:15 to 12:15. From early June thru early August we hold only our 11:15 service with Religious Odysseys at 10:00a.m.

We are a very small church, and every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference! Every Thursday night of the year, except Thanksgiving Day, we give a free meal to anyone who is present. We support people seeking to better their lives, providing free child care during a weekly AA meeting. And we stand for justice for the GLBT community by giving a warm welcome to ALL people.

Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) around the world reach out to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Communities to communicate the power of God's unconditional love. MCC of Greater St. Louis (MCCGSL), as a welcoming and affirming Christian community, opens it doors to all of God's children and seeks to equip all for ministry to our troubled world. National Avenue Christian Church has a well-earned reputation for leadership in social justice ministries in Springfield and among the Disciples of Christ. We are broadly recognized for our commitment to excellence in worship. We believe that all people are worthy of respect and honor, because all are created in the image of God, and all can respond to the love of god. In our baptismal vows we commit ourselves, with God's help, to seek and serve Christ in all persons, by loving our neighbors as ourselves, respecting the dignity of every human being, and striving for justice and peace among all people. Yet we see that, in our churches and in society, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people are not always counted among those for whom the Church seeks justice, or grants due respect, as loving and beloved members of the household of God. We recognize that fear of, and discrimination against, gay lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people is part of an oppressive history within the Church and society, which distorts our relationship with God and with other people, and diminishes the humanity of us all. Therefore we feel compelled to make explicit our welcome of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people into the ministries and life of this congregation, incarnating the message, "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You." We encourage gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people to participate in all aspects of the ministries of this church, by bearing witness to Christ, and fully participating in our life, worship and governance. Where we see division, we will seek, with God's help to be a people of reconciliation, offering a live that casts out all fear. Where we see injustice and ignorance, we will offer our ministry of advocacy and education, trusting the Holy Spirit to lead us all into truth.
