PROFILE: Passages is the only Youth program in Kansas City, solely dedicated to helping young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth in the coming to terms and potentially even coming out. Through weekly educational programs and activities, Passages creates social support networks that nurture and develop healthy and empowered LGBT youth. These programs form a foundation of vital resources that provide these youth with alternatives to risk-taking behavior. The diversity of our staff, volunteers and board of directors have enabled us to grow and expand services over the past 18 months. Community ties and interaction with supportive organizations along with straight and LGBT Allies, has provided Passages guidance, strength and foundational principles providing motivation instrumental in our expansion.
